I´m Gema and I´m a profe

(teacher).

I’m Spanish and I studied History of Art at Valencia University. After I did an M.A. in Education with a group of teachers from the innovation field.
I moved abroad ten years ago where I still teach Spanish.

At the same time I needed to quickly learn a language to survive in my new country.
The text books and lessons didn’t help to solve the situations of my everyday life. Learning grammar and vocabulary lists were far from decreasing the stress in real moments with native speakers. I was more likely to get blocked and forget everything I studied. It was really frustrating to have lost so many hours studying for little improvement.
In the meanwhile I had my first child, Ricardo. I could see at home how he started to communicate with me by evolving easy words and I fell in love with his grammar or coherence tricks to get what he needed.

With such a “teacher” at home I started to design easy exercises and activities for my students of Spanish as well as basing them in the real situations I needed to solve myself every day in my new country.
This way my students started to be able to communicate in spanish with much more self confidence from the first day enjoying and loving the process.

From all this experience emerged the conversation method Gema tu profe:
